Hi I've got a 04 crf250r. I pretty much hosed the bottom half of it and found my crank case cracked inside. I'm looking to buy a left and right case off of eBay from a parts dealer there. He is selling 08 crank cases for same bike. He tells me it fits my 04. Is this true? What other parts work like this?

Google is your friend!! Using this new, wonderful, space aged tool I found a few things for you.
The 2004 and 2008 crankcase halves do have different part numbers.

2004 - 11100-krn-505 R
11200-krn-316 L
11191-krn-670 gasket

2008 - 11100-krn-A10 R
11200-krn-A10 L
11191-krn-A11 gasket

Here is where I think you could use them. OEM Honda bottom end gasket kit - 06115-KRN-A00 covers 2004 - 2009 BUT the OEM crankshaft is only the same from 04-07.

Here is where I'd take a chance. IF you are getting a complete 2008 bottom end I'd take a chance that it would work. If you are just getting the cases.... I might keep searching for a good set of 2004 cases.
There are a bunch on fleaBay right now around $200. Hope it helps.
