    Problems!!!

    by Trotts780 » Thu May 09, 2013 4:27 pm

    Hi everyone.
I just bought a 04 crf250 from someone. The bike ran fine and started fine when I bought it. But a week later I couldn't get it to start. I checked the plug and was getting spark. And the carb was getting clean fuel. Finally after a couple of hours I can push start it. But when I want to idle in neutral it stalls and won't let me get to neutral. Is this because the bike is still cold? Also it just won't kick start for the life of me. And when I have the bike off and in gear the tire won't spin when I hold the clutch. Any help?!?!?! Thanks

    Check Valve Adjustment.

Would that also be the reason I'm only getting like 40-50 compression

Definitely check the valves. Low compression values are indicative of valve issues! Push start.. Rough idling also give it away. I'd guess your intakes have zero clearance. Hope u figure it out !

it sounds like classic tight intake valves. which is in reality a loss of compression. verify your decomp is working correctly. once bump started how does it run?

Once I bump start it. It sounds a little sluggish. But I don't think it's decompressing because I can't get to neutral once I'm stop and eventually it will just die out.
