Shimmed exhaust now so hard to start

    by rvand12 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 1:58 pm

    08 Crf 250 R
Checked my valves recently and found exhaust at .017. Intake on spec.
Shimmed and now measure exhaust at .010
Put it all back together and it wont start.
Was careful to be sure cam in correct position.
I have a rekluse clutch so I need it to start reliably with the kick starter.
    Any suggestions?

if both intakes and exhaust valve clearance is within spec then and timing was set correctly and it was starting well prior to the adjustment it should start as it was. the rekluse should be a non-issue as long as you are starting it in neutral. go back and check your work. check electrical connections, if you removed your kill switch check it (known to be an issue when reinstalling), check and recheck timing, check and recheck timing.
