    Valve Problems

    by dirtrider27 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:15 pm

Hey guys ive been having problems with valves for a while now but now its worse. First off a just put a new hot cam in it and after i put it in about 2 weeks after something was clicking but im pretty sure it was just the compression release. I was just riding around one day and it was running weird so i went to rev it up and it just quit. I tryed to kick it after that and it had no compression but it wasnt locked up so im pretty sure its the valves. I checked the timing and everying and the timing is still on. any idea of what it could be?

so you are able to kick through with no compression? when you are checking the timing are the cam lobes facing the carb? if so, when the cam is set to TDC, lobes facing the rear, is there clearance under all four valves? if so, and you still have no compression then you should pull the cam and inspect the auto decomp. if that looks functional then you have to pull the head and inspect the valves and piston.

Now im thinking is needs a new ring on the piston because the spark plug had oil all over it

probably time to pull the head and inspect.
