    Cycra hand grips

Anyone ever put Cycra Probend handgaurds on their crf before?

How do you best suggest cutting the handgrips up in order to get them on?

    Let me know, thanks.

some people take a socket that can slide into the grip with and extension. place grip on the ground and hammer the extension. this punches a hole in the end of grip.

I just use a razor blade and cut the end off.

The socket trick may work fine on the clutch side, but for the throttle side, make sure you cut the entire end of the grip off. If you leave too much of the grip end it will catch on the handguard and wont allow the throttle to return to a closed position. Renthal Pillow tops have three ridges on the end that allow a razor blade to follow around the grip nicely for an even cut. Whatever grips you have just use a sharp razor blade and cut the whole end off, again just make sure the throttle side is nice and even. When the guards go on, you cant even tell they were cut. Also make sure you slide the throttle tube in towards the front brake perch as far as you can to make sure it won't hang up on the guards.

My uncle showed me a trick where he grabbed an old piece of copper plumbing tube he had hanging around. Similar to the socket, put the grip on it like it was the handlebar, smack a hammer into the pipe with the other end on a solid surface, and bam, perfect hole. Worked like a charm.

motion pro makes this fancy tool for the job:

makes perfect cuts every time. the other methods mentioned work too. on the throttle size, the main thing is not to cut off the entire end. just cut enough to get the insert through without dragging on it when twisting the throttle. you want some coverage of the end of the throttle tube to keep out dirt and grime.
