Run out of fuel on FI?

    by mprentice » Thu Jun 14, 2012 7:34 pm

Has anyone run out of fuel on the new FI bike? if so, how much of a PITA is it to get running again? I haven't done it yet, but knowing me, it's just a matter of time

My son ran out once on his 2012 250r. Put gas in it and it started up fine.

I ran my bike out. Same, put gas in and it starts right up. Not something I want to make a habit of since running it that low gives it the best chance of pulling crap into the system.

I know a guy that when it ran out of his it fried the pump and he had to replace it. Don't know how common that is. Plus it was a KTM so it might be different results on a honda

well that's good then. I saw something in the manual about hooking it up to a 6v battery, and priming the pump....but I like all your answers better :D

If you keep trying to start it with no fuel then that makes sense, else it should not be a problem.
