Primary Drive X Ring Chain - Keep or get different one

    by motoxman9995 » Wed May 02, 2012 2:21 pm

    Hi everyone,

I just ordered a Primary Drive X-Ring chain from Rocky Mountain for my 2005 CRF250R. Now the reviews i am reading state that the chain will rub my cases and isn't good for motocross riding. Should I send this back and get a quality non-o/x ring chain? Or is this a good chain for my bike and style of riding? I just don't want to bust my cases with this chain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

You need a $1 countershaft sprocket spacer. Ken has them here. You can use the chain you ordered.

Some folks have had good luck with PD chains, I personally think they suck. Put one on a 150. Had to tighten it after every ride, and it stretched a full link after only 30 hours. Post where people say they are just bulk DID cut off a roll by RM are just wrong or DID has some bottom barrel stuff that they do not dare put their name on.

I still have a couple, new in box, for the 150 and 250 but just for backups.

I would send it back or keep it as the emergency backup and get a real chain.
