    Another gas in oil thred

    by Hondacrfrider » Sat Apr 21, 2012 2:55 pm

i have a 2012 250r with 18hours on it. i changed the oil recently and smelled gas in it. i have heard of this being a problem with the FI bikes and especially with the crf's (but that might be just because they have smaller oil capacity) the oil had about 8 hours on it. usually i change it after 5 hours. and this time, i was doing some slow speed riding with some beginer riders. i was also stalling out more than i normaly do. my question is.... has my bike always been puting gas in the oil or was this just a one time thing because of circumstances noted above. and is there really a fix for this or do i need to just change my oil very often? by the way i havent noticed any increase in the valume of oil in my engine, but i wasnt really paying attion to it.

it can be a sign of a defective injector. also, read your owner's manual on the proper shut off procedure (yes, there is a correct way to shut your FI bike off). make sure you follow it explicitly.
