Valves hitting piston.

When ever I kick over my daughters bike it was sticking and took a strong leg to get past it. My daughter could net even start her bike. When I tore down the engine I found that the intake valve is hitting the piston. What are some of the things that can cause this. I am leaning towards getting the valves redone but want to make sure that there is not anything else that I am missing. Also the other intake valve needed to be reshimmed, I couldn't even get a .001 shim in there. The one hitting was shimmed to spec. Don't know if that helps people answer my question or not.

I am new so hopefully these pics work.

If the intake valve is hitting the piston, either your timing is off or the wrong piston was installed. It sounds like your are due for some headwork. At a minimum changing the valve that has interference.

The bike would run, just hard to kick because the valve is hitting the piston. If the timing was off it would not start correct?
