I just bought a blown 08 model and i am trying to decide which route to go on a rebuild. I am looking at all options which are:

stock stroke crank, stock bore cyl w/high comp piston
stock stroke, big bore cyl kit
stroker crank, stock bore
stroker crank, big bore kit
stock cam or Hotcams stage 2 on any above setup?

Is the stock 08 cam a good one or should i upgrade?

Which setup has the overall best performance and results?


This bike will mainly be ridden as a motocross bike by myself and my son since it is the next step for him to move up to from his big wheel 85. It may also see some woods riding sometime but it will be minor compared to track time it will see. I have an orange bike that I primarily use as a woods bike and my son would be the one putting around in the woods on the CRF.

im no pro but i assume it just depends on how much you want to spend, how much power you want/need. riding style and conditions. but will most likely need to be bored or big bore kit, piston if the cylinder/piston/rings is damaged. if its for mx, like hardcore riding i would max it out.
