hi all iv hit the point were you put your head in your hands and wonder why you bother ! :x
i have just had my valve seats dun on my 2008 crf250 its got nice new inlet and out let valves and a nice new piston, iv timed it up shimmed it up to the correct clearances, its got fuel, air and a spark but refuses to start ether on the kick start or bumping it.
after every attempt iv had the plug out and its wet but like i said there's a spark so what the ?
iv checked the timing dozens of times and the clearances and its all as it should be so . . . . . . . . . . . in short help
    keep it lit !

First thing that comes to mind is who did the head/piston work. If it was not a shop in either instance then I would be checking compression. Also, any chance you left a rag in the airbox when you put it back together (it happens)?

Yep, Kicked and kicked and kicked my RM125 while my buddies roosted. Spark? check: gas? check: compression? check, Rag in airbox? Crap!
Not suggesting you're as stupid as I was. Just saying I was that stupid. : )

Did it run before the work was done?
Did you paint any points around the frame?
    Are any earth straps inplace.
Do you get good spark to the head?
The spark actually jumps the gap when earthed onto the head

A stator would not die just because of a top overhaul.
Take a look at everything you have touched (electrically)as part of the overhaul.

When you swap the plug you may want to put a drop or two of oil in the cylinder. I have seen them flooded so bad that they dont have enough compression to start.
