how much faster is a 250r over a 250x? what would need to be done to bring it to the same level? I made the mistake and let the kid ride my 450, now hes in love with the power! would a cam, airbox, exhaust, jet, bring it close? All I would need to add is cam, I have already done the rest.

there is much you can do to a 250X to get the 250R power. many 250X owners swap the heads to the '07 or '08 250R head. this head has much better porting and hence increase performance potential. you can then mate it with an R cam and a R piston. then do the pink wire mod and this will get you the same top end and ignition timing of the R. you'll still have the e-start and the wide ratio trans but have more power.
