    2010-12 Remove the backfire screen

    by DarkCRF » Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:28 am

I'm just curious how some do that. I just get my Twin air filters. I know I can remove the entire screen but if I go this way, I'm gonna lose the little pin to attach the filter to the cage and the guide for keep it on the filter box while the bolt isn't in place.

Some have ever cut just the screen, some have pictures ?

hi the screen has little steel tabs that hold it to the plastic cage bend these back and the screen (the steel part)will come right out leaving you with the plastic cage that is the part you use with your filter oh and where did you get that seat cover

Like I told you on the other site, don't do it! It's not worth it.

by retainer you mean the tab that holds the filter in place? over the screen it dose not matter it wont move. but i don't think you need to remove the screen on the r as it wont make that much difference

Once you remove that screen, that tab that keeps the filter in the right place is no longer. As you know, it's not that hard to lign it up right. I just don't like the idea that the plastic cage is really weak and it doesn't seem to seal as good as I like it to. And you know what happens to the valves when the filter doesn't seal properly.
