I love the simplistic design but I bet it does not function in a linier fashion. Meaning that it will not be as effective during the initial stages of movement and much like a shock it will stiffen the farther it deploys. Which may be fine when the rider is already in a turn. I don’t know how the Scott’s stabilizer works so I cant compare, however the simplistic nature of the product and its application leads me to hope it will not only be cheaper but it will also be adaptable to nearly every bike past or present.

    Awesome find AS!

Popular conjecture is that Honda has made the 2008 turn so well, so sharp, that they are prone to headshake in a straight line.

Their stabilizer is to offset this.

    We'll see...

I have a saying, “make physics work for you, not against you” if this stabilizer is not the most sophisticated ever made, (capable of working when you need it to and not when you are turning) then Honda definitely chose against. I suppose all it can really do is help keep the front end from oscillating out of control but the bike is still going to shutter.

I am only light and my bike doesn't get to bad head shake i have played around with the dampning on it and i don't have very many troubles. but my neighbours ktm shakes around so bad it feels like the front wheel is going to fall of. i have heard the because of the angle of the forks the 250x get a bit more shake in them. but a stabilzer would be great. My ktm friend just put i think it was a works one on and it really made a big difference. well i am off to school :)

    Agreed. 110%.
And the straight-line shake got worse when I changed to the 22mm offset triple clamps. But the combination of those clamps, plus a stickier front tire helped the 250X to turn and corner in a way that I now miss, and hope to bring to the 450R. So I kinda applaud Honda's innovation here, noting that the first year they do "anything" usually isn't how it ends up long-term. They'll tweak this for years to come. But at the very least it looks like it shows they are ahead of a potential issue, rather than trying to rebut. ;)
