I have read that you can use the Twin Air Power Flow filter with the backfire retardant ($34) and the stock cage with the stock backfire screen removed. True or false?
Also, if I go with the dual stage replacement filter ($25) with the screen in place am I going to know the difference--why spend the extra $ if it doesn't matter?
Will I need to rejet with either filter?

You can use the standard Twin Air without the screen. The chances of a backfire through the carb are minimal. If you run the No-Toil product as your filter oil, it helps since it isn't flammable. I have run the stock and the "normal" Twin Air without issue. If you are ordering a new filter, then go with the Powerflo for that little bit of peace of mind. Pull the screen and never look back.

If your jetting is right now, then you probably won't need to do anything other than tweak the fuel screw.

    Hello,

Has anyone noticed a power increase with the screen removed?

    Thanks

With just a screen removal and nothing else??? No.

With a screen removal and subsequent rejet?? Yes, big time.
