depends what goes wrong. the top end can be a couple of hundred but if the bottom end fails then your looking at over £1000 if the cases are split. largely depends on the damage or parts needed, but i have done top and bottom end and my wallet didnt like either

raiders - That's a hard question to answer in finite numbers. I'll say it depends. Depends on how you ride, maintain, and care for your bike. I've seen 250R valvetrains (cause that's really what we are talking about) last 4 yrs and I've seen some only last 4 months. The cylinders/pistons are much more durable and will typically outlast the valvetrain.

When the topend repair is necessary I'll also say it depends. It depends on what work you'll be doing yourself. From a parts perspective; the valvetrain and piston parts cost around $500. The labor for the head repair is around $150-200. The rest of the labor R & R, is dependent on your ability to either repair or smooth talk someone into cheap labor. The standard dealer rate is about $75-85/hr.

It also depends on how u ride. if u rev the piss out of the bike and shift late u will do it often and vice versa
