OK, lets get things staight first: dont make fun of me because I ride a KTM instead of a CRF.
I Just bought a used KTM 144sx. I like it alot its just when i get to a high speed the steering feels kinda loose and it feels like i might loose controle, also when the bike is on a stand the front wheel tends to clunk to one side or the other. any way i can make the steering less loose without getting a steering stablizer?
any ideas would be great, Thanks

It sounds like you might have a bad bearing in your front wheel

I would also loosen all of the bolts on the front end including the axle and triple clamps just to insure that the forks aren't twisted.

like mentioned before it could be a wheel bearing problem.

If you want help, letting people know the year is important.
Between 2002 - 2006 there were several changes.

It sounds like a wheel bearing first though.
Make sure the hub is OK before you install new bearings.

My son has a 2003 200EXC so I have had some experience sorting it out.

Is it just the wheel that clunks side to side or is it the whole front end?

the whole front end (the handlebars)

That would be my guess as well. Bearings in the steering tube.

Time to put it up in the air, grab the forks and give it a wiggle. Hopefully the stem bearings are not stuffed just loose. Wouldn't be the first time I have seen the nut loosen off.
You do have your factory frame and engine manuals to show you what to do? They are available electronically If you don't.
