ive never worked on a two stroke, so maybe you guys can help me out.....my yz250 will only start with the choke on and it idles rough, while smoking out of the radiator vent tube. turn off choke and give throttle and it bogs and dies. :(

Clogged pilot would be my first thought...I'm sure you threw in the "smokin out the radiator vent hose" just to screw with us huh?

When was the last topend done on it? If you don't know, then it's a good time to do it for peace of mind, VERY cheap and easy on a 250 2stk, would take care of a leaky head gasket while in there and give good peace of mind knowing what shape it's in. Crappy reeds will cause all kinds of running issues too, very commonly neglected part of a 2 stroke maintinance. Also as mentioned before, if it sat at all with gas in the carb, almost always plugs the pilot jet, and even the main sometimes too.
