    bike wont run

    by justo82 » Mon Jun 02, 2014 1:24 am

    HI,
    I have a 2008 crf 250x
for the past 6 weeks my bike has not run. It died one day and wouldn't start again! my riding buddy is a mechanic, so when we have time we have been trying to get it going.
so far had the carby off 3 times, looks all fine
checked valves and they are fine.
changed spark plug and there is plenty of spark.
it tries to start but wont most of the time. then on on the odd occasion it will start and run fine and i can turn it off and start it again. but 9 times out of 10 it will run crap and die IF it starts at all and 90 times out of 100 it wont even start!
we think its a fuel problem but not sure!
its like its not getting fuel but if u kick it to many times fuel comes out the overflow! i dropped a splash down the cylinder and it started pretty much straight away which is why i have come back to thinking its a fuel problem.

have no idea where to go next, hoping someone else might
    cheers

welcome to CRF's Only. very difficult to look at a carb and determine it's fine. if the bike was sitting with fuel in it then likely your jets are clogged. the pilot jet is very difficult to clean to new condition. the smallest obstruction will causing starting, idling and off idle issues. replace it with new. if you can successfully clean the main jet do otherwise replace. check the AP for long and strong squirt.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
I wouldn't say the bike had been sitting. I'd been riding several times up until it stopped the first time. I did think it may have got some dirty fuel though. I can replace jets easy enough though.
    Cheers
