    2006 250r cold starting issues

    by lmntguy » Fri Nov 02, 2012 6:59 am

My sons 2006 CRF250R has 4hrs on it after installation of new factory cam and followers at a local Honda dealership, it now refuses to kickstart cold and when jumped smokes until warmed up,also does pop a bit more than ever before, runs fine when warmed up. They did a leakdown test on it and said it was fine.... I assume w/the new cam valve shimming is not an issue. any ideas....

welcome to CRF's Only. you should verify the valve clearances are in spec. here's a how-to on checking and adjusting:

also, your jetting could now be lean. try going up one on the pilot and adjust the fuel screw out.

    again, welcome!

    Thanks Ken,
The cold air up here in Maine probably requires seasonal jetting adjustments so we will try that.....
