2007 450x Blue AP Pump Linkage

    by jagster » Thu Aug 09, 2012 10:36 am

I was messing with mine last night and the linkage is blue plastic with a metal sleeve around the set screw so I cannot easily see the gap. It looks weird, not like any of the pics I have seen online. Anyone know what this is or where it came from? I am not the original owner of this bike. Trying to correct AP pump lackings.

    Thanks!

I have done extensive research on this topic and have found no info. Mine might be the "push" style linkage? Its blue and has the sleeve as described above. I cannot find any information or pictures of this style. I wish I would have taken a picture!!

Any ideas? I need to know if my linkage needs to be beefed up with spring, etc or if its just timing. It is quite response but a hard whack open on the throttle still causes bogging! I want it perfect :). This may not be possible but I want it to be as best as it can be.

    Thanks

keihin/honda started making some of the adjustable features of the FCR carb difficult to adjust (e.g. d-shape fuel screw and the AP linkage). keep in mind in your research you are looking at an evolution of information as knowledge about what was actually causing the AP bog. one of the problems is ending up mixing these solutions and not getting the desired results.

one of the better solutions is the R&D Powerpump which has an adjustable leak jet circuit. this along with the updated and functioning diaphragm works great with the correct jetting and fuel screw adjustment.
