jetting and needle settings for a novice rider

I have a '04 250r, mostly ride trails, and I'm a novice rider. I love the bike but I don't yet have the space, the experience, or the balls to open it up anywhere near its full potential for more than short bursts. So, I rarely open it up past 3/4 throttle.
When I ride for more than 20-30 minutes, it starts to bog out and stall at low rpm's. I'm thinking maybe the needle and jets are set for a faster rider and/or track use, and I'm just flooding the engine by not forcing enough fuel through the system.
Do you think I need to adjust the needle and replace with smaller jets? If yes, what do I adjust the needle to and what size jet should I get?
Or,do the jets & needle have nothing to do with it bogging out and stalling?

Cant really tell you if your jetting is right, since you havent told us what jets and needle you have in now, where you ride etc. You dont really jet your bike for the speed of the rider though. Jetting is to get great throttle response and to get the engine running properly. In most cases the best pros and average riders would use the same jetting specs. You jet based on elevation, exhaust system, and mods to the bike not skill level. It is all about getting the right mix of fuel and air to get the best responsiveness from your ride...

    Great info. Thanks.
That will help me troubleshoot issues and better understand the bike.
    Appreciate it.
