08 250r Jetting help with full exhaust and R&D Power bow

    by 38mad_mx » Mon Mar 12, 2012 1:11 pm

Hey guys, wondering if any of you had any recommendations for jetting on my bike. I am at sea level and have a full FMF 4.1 with the powerbomb header and a R&D Power bowl also have the no toil powerflow air filter. I currently have a 182 main and 42 pilot.

Having a hell of a time getting it jetted right, do any of you guys have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

A lot run the JD jetting kit which takes a lot of the guess work out of it.

Also what are the Symptoms you are experiencing

I can't justify buying a $75 jet kit when I have all the jets on hand already. I haven't messed with the needle at all. I personally think that it's jetted way to rich as I have trouble with hot starting and I know it isn't the valves. I'll get a small bog if I blip the throttle quick and it seems to almost "break up" at higher rpms. I was originally at a 188 main jet and the 182 helped some but not enough. Fuel screw is set at 2.5 turns out and I don't know what I should be running for the leak jet. I have the adjustable leak jet on the R&D bowl and think it may be set at 60 right now I am not too sure.

I am planning to drop down to a 172-175 main jet and mess with the leak jet adjustment a little bit. I have a general idea of what I need to do, just looking for a little guidance to help make things go smoother!

bog off idle is almost always a lean condition caused by the AP, fuel screw or pilot jet. the R&D bowl has an adjustable AP so you may be able to resolve the off-idle bog with that. "jetting" is a bit misleading as the needle has a lot to do with proper jetting once you are in the main circuit. the jd kit is not just jets but has two custom tapered needles.

as mentioned, check out the jetting db in the 250R section and see what others are using successfully under similar conditions.
