250x jetting

Hey Guys, I bought a jd kit for a previous 250 which I sold (2009).

I live in Ca and ride at gorman a lot (actually my sons bike and he does) We bought a new 2012 250 for him. I had previously used the red needle (in the old bike) I know the blue needle is a little richer than the red needle. Can I run the blue needle one clip lower than I would the red needle? I am planning on opening up the air box and putting on a fmf Q4 with the stock header. On the old bike I ran a 165 mj and the red needle. I am hoping I can use the blue needle and and run a 160mj. I am obviously trying to avoid buying another jd kit as the bike completely tapped me out.

Thanks

Mark

Probably nothing but ordinarily I would like to richen the needle circuit up a bit but since they are no longer adjustable......

I probably will just throw a bigger mj in and call it good to go

Check the 250x section of the forum and click on the jetting database that is stickied on top. There are a few people running the stock needle. If you want to richen it lower the clip on the needle.

I don't believe you can move the clip on the stock needle.

I have a 2009 250x. The stock needle is not adjustable. I have the JD Jetting kit and it is great! Currently running the red needle. If you need to adjust the stock needle, just get the kit. Consider it as part of the cost of the new bike or new exhaust and it wont sting as bad!

have purchased 2 of the kits already for 2 other 250 x`s. They are great. I had already used the 2 red needles and have 2 blues already. JD answered an email and suggested using the blue 4th clip from the top. The bike ran so much better with the blue needle over stock (obviously) I thought it might be too rich but it worked a charm. Thanks JD.. Great customer service!

fourperf, I too have a couple extra blue needles. And I have a buddy that is to stubborn to buy a JD kit. I was thinking of trying a blue needle for him.
So what did you end up using for a main jet with the blue needle? Did you go one size smaller from the red? What elevation are you?
I'm looking for a baseline to start at with the blue needle. I'm thinking of starting with 155 main and one clip lower on the blue. possibly a 150 or 152 main.
Any suggestions?
In my bike, I live at 7500 ft and go up from there. I run the red third clip and a 155 main per JD's recommendations. no bog and runs awesome. My buddy actualy live closer to 8,000 ft and again we go up from there. Although most of our riding is done at 8-9000 ft.
