    Basic Jetting principals help...

    by storm720 » Thu Nov 17, 2011 9:34 am

I just bought a 07 CRF150F all stock w/ a BBR pipe & silencer. I put a Uni filter and removed the baffle on top of the air box and it has a new CPR7EA plug. I just bought the parts for jetting it per the application on the forum and needed some refresher tips when I start to tune it. I would like to think it will just start up and run fine but we know that just doesn't happen because of altitude and other factors. Most of my riding is at sea level to 4k feet mostly and probable won't ride anything higher than 6k-8k feet occassionally, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    My understanding is:
Main jet - mid range to top end
Needle & needle jet - low end to mid range
Pilot jet - idle to low end
    Mixture screw - idle

Is this correct and in what order would I start tuning after installing the Honda Power Up needle & needle jet, #115 main, #42 pilot, #3 pos. on needle?

    Thanks in advance!

welcome to CRF's Only! install the jets and needle (middle position). set the fuel screw about 1 3/4 to 2 turns out. if installing an aftermarket fuel screw be careful not to lose the washer, o-ring and spring. make sure you install them in the correct order. check the o-ring for damage.

you should be very close after install.

    again, welcome!

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for advice... Spot on! It literally fired right up with no adjustments, in 45 deg. temps. Just got back from a ride at Stonyford, CA and it was flawless! I think the next mod will be the black box. Thanks again.
