    Ok...

I have a 2005 crf450x. I have a yoshimura pipe, but everything else is stock. I bought the JD Jetting kit, and am running according to the instructions, minus the air box cutting.

Can I adjust to not cut my airbox? The bike runs perfect when it's started. The problem is, it's almost impossible to start. Valve clearances are in spec and the plug is new. I'll open it up and check what my pilot jet is, but I'm thinking it's stock, which is supposed to be a 45. I'm set up for 8-10k feet. (without the sheet I think I'm at 162, red needle, 3rd clip position, 1.25 turns out - either way, it's what the directions say).

Also, the only way I can start it, even when cold is with the hot start lever pulled.. which means I need more air. Probably need to cut the box... I was hoping to not do that. let me know!

If you have to pull the hot start when the engine is cold to get it started that is a pretty clear sign that your jetted too rich. Im guessing that its a pain to start when hot also? Try going down to a 40 on your pilot and you will probably find that it starts a lot easier. You should not have to cut your air box to get it to run right.

Not to knock you or anyone else, but it seems that just as many people ask for help after they get a JD kit as people who dont have the kit.
