450x THROTTLE STUCK HALF OPEN. HELP

    by ridered05 » Sun May 15, 2011 10:32 am

Its a 05 450x just put in new piston and ss valves and i just moved to wy from ms, noticed there is a slight difference in elevation so pulled the top off the carb to move the needle up to top position and put back together, it cranked right up, went for a test ride puttin around, came home, checked fluid, tried to crank again but throttle was stuck half open. I troubleshot it down to the lever behind the wheel where the cables attach on carb. The only way to get the throttle to go down is pull the wheel assembly out and lever will pop back. What am i doing wrong? thanks

welcome to the site! if you remove the cable does the throttle pulley have full range of movement without any issues? if not then you'll have to find out if it's the slide or the pulley arm. if it does move fine then you'll have to look at the cable for kinks or other routing issues.

the plastic piece behind where the cables goes had a chip in it so i sanded it smooth with some sand paper. and smoothed out the arm. thanks for the help anyway.
