So My Parts Came In "Question"

    by northwoodslivin » Sat Apr 02, 2011 12:25 pm

    Hey guys.

My carb parts came in the other day. I have a question.

Ok first off I have an 07 CRF230F

    I bought an 03-05 5 position needle
    120 main
    45 pilot.

My question is, which clip position should I use? 3rd or 4th?

I know with the power up needle you use 4th but this is not the power up needle.

Also I am 1000ft above sea level.

Second question, how many turns out should I set the air screw?

And lastly. Can anyone give me some tips on doing this? I hear the little spring can be a bugger to get on and off, can I use a small set of needle nose pliers to do that part?

Can I get away using the OEM air filter with the baffle on the air box removed as well as the baffle out of the exhaust? or am I going to have to buy an aftermarket air filter?

    Thanks!

I think I had the clip on the 3rd position and my altitude is about the same as you. My air screw was about 1 1/2 turns out but it differs from bike to bike so you might have to play with it a little. If your using the stock air screw you won't have to take it out at all so you don't have to worry about the spring but if you got a different one just ease it out and watch closely for anything to fall out of the hole. Sometimes the spring and o ring will stay right in the hole and sometimes it will come out with the screw. It will probably be better to get an aftermarket filter like twin air if your going to open the airbox up.
