    07 CRF230F Power Up Kit

    by northwoodslivin » Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:52 pm

    Hey guys!

I have a question. It appears that the only power up kits I can find for my bike include the wrong main jets "132 and 135" It is to my understanding that I require a 120 and a 45 pilot for my area. I am 1000ft above sea level and a bit cooler then the southern temps "I am in Northern Ontario Canada"

Can I get a power up kit with a 120 and 45? I was also told that this combo would work well with the stock needle that is already in my bike? I take it a 132 would be way to rich for my area correct?
    Help!?!?!?! :)
    Thanks in advance!

Oh and also. I am running the stock silencer for now with the baffle removed, I am going to pull the plug thing off of the top of the air box as well, and seeing if I like this bike "haven't rode it yet, still snow on the ground" I will likely put an aftermarket silencer on it.

welcome to the site! i haven't heard of running with a 120. that's pretty small for running at 1,000 sea level. not sure who is suggesting it but the kit we sell does have the 132 and 135 and customers at the same altitude have great success with it.

Thank you for the welcome =)

I have been lurking about before I joined trying to get some info.

I am a member on another site in which they suggested I use a 120 main and 45 pilot with my stock needle in my 07?

The temps here in the spring are mid 50's-mid60's summer high 50's in the morning to mid 70's in the afternoon with maybe 3 weeks in the 90's then dropping down into the 70's in the fall. Elevation 1000ft above sea level.

Maybe it is the temps here that had to do with those suggestions?

You think a 132 wouldn't be too rich for my neck of the woods huh? I haven't had the carb apart to check the sizes yet, but the original owner told me that he never touched the jets "he bought it new" so I take it that the 102 main is still in there. Going from a 102 to a 132 is a huge jump?

I am just looking for the most power I can get out of this bike with out modding out the motor and chasing rich/lean conditions. Only going to be using it for trail riding. I used to have a CR250R and understand that this bike will be nothing to compare it to that, but I want to get the most torque and "jam" I can get out of it. Next will probably be tweaking the suspension.

Just want to make double sure that a 132 won't be too much for me, some how I am thinking it is?

Thank you for the quick reply!

the powerup kit comes with a new needle. jetting recommendations are based on the taper of the needle. so, what jets may work with one needle may not work with another. the 132 and 135 are correct for most situations with the powerup needle.

the kit will help with starting and overall power and responsiveness. the suspension is the biggest issue for most aggressive/fast riders. not sure of your weight but you may need to change springs to help.

Thanks for that tidbit of info bud.

So you are saying with the power up needle, that the 132 should be ideal for my sea level and temp?

I am 5'11 178lbs. I only intend to trail ride the bike for what it is intended for. No more jumping and crazy stuff for this guy, getting to old and broke too many bones in my past, time to taker easy ;)

definitely the 132 with the powerup needle is a good place to start with the 132

Well I was all set to buy the power up kit, but the cheapest method of shipping is USPS at $24.95 for something that could fit in a tiny envelope? I have shipped a pair of shrouds and number plates to a guy in FL for that price.

Then it says in the corner if I spend 150 bucks I will get free shipping, does that apply to Canadians?

for small items like this power up kit the shippers quoting system is typically off. we can ship that kit for less. just mention in your order text at checkout to have us ship it for the least expensive method possible.

the free shipping is for only the 48 US states.
