    AP mod Q?

    by crashtoy2026 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 3:05 pm

So I've done the full mod and have the thick o-ring from the JD kit, and there is still a slight bog right off idle. I'm using the 55 leak jet, 45 SJ, JD red needle, 168 MJ, 2 turns out on the fuel screw. I live and ride in Phoenix AZ, sometimes ride in Glamis. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Oh ya, all the details except the one the counts haha. its a 2003 CRF450R. And I'm also doing the mod on a 2006 CRF450R, and it already had a 55 leak jet in it, is that normal? Thanks

We normally run the 50 leak jet in the 450's.

Did you shave the rivet too?

Replace the AP with this OEM kit. It updates the AP to the latest design and has cured the bog in carbs for us. Use the 50 leak jet.

Is the "O-ring" mod the same as the "tie-wrap" mod for other FCR carbs ? Holds the arm tight to the pump lever.
Not familure with the "rivot" mod ? Whats that all about Agent ?

The rivet on the AP diaphragm is shaved down so that the rod can provide a larger squirt of fuel.

O-ring mod is a must for pre 2007 bikes.

Ok, so I have a 2006 450r, I have the boyesen quick shot 2 on it and I just bought the updated OEM 08 AP kit.

I noticed that the quick shot 2 for the 06 to the 08 is different and has different part numbers, is the new 08 AP kit going to work with the 06 quick shot or should I use the AP cover that came with the kit?

Also, with adding the 08 AP kit, should I still do the O ring mod?
