The JD kit for the 2005 R is a great set up.

If you want to use Honda brass, NCYQ #3 clip, 172 main jet, 42 pilot jet, 70 leak jet, 1 3/4 fuel screw.

If I go with the JD Kit would I jet it for teh 2005 or 2007?

    Jet for 2005.

The 40mm throat on the 2007 carb will pull a lower negative pressure and lower velocity and will therefore need larger jets to get enough fuel. The intake velocity and pressure of the 37mm will pull enough fuel with smaller jets.

This was Team Honda's fix in 2006 when they couldn't get their race bike's to run worth a damn...switched back to 2005 37mm carbs and the problems went away...

    Thanks...

Did they have a cure for the hard starting when it's hot. I have the decompression lever mod and it's still a pain in the rear to start.

Install a new needle jet when you install the new needle. They wear and allow fuel to bypass making it too rich.
