    Float Bowl Stuck

    by DaBull » Fri Jul 24, 2009 2:13 pm

Hi, after tearing apart my buddies bike to clean all the jets (2006 CRF450X) and putting it all together, the issue stopped, however, fuel is now pouring out the overflow hose.

We really don;t want to take that whole thing apart again, does anyone have any "tricks" or "tips" an easy ways to unstick the float bowl without tearing the bike apart again? (I am assuming the float bowl is stuck)

    Thanks!

Usually you can loosen the carb clamps and rotate the carb enough to get the bottom float section off. Did you replace the phillips screws with aleen heads? Makes it a lot easier.

Yeah, you can get to the float without removing the carb from the bike, its a little tight but it can be done. Before you do that you might just wanna try tapping the float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver. Sometimes that works to unstick the valve.

I unhooked the fuel line from the petcock that went to the carb and sprayed carb cleaner directly into the fuel line to cure mine of the problem earlier this year. After spraying, make sure you empty the cleaner out of the float bowl before riding.
