    Idle problem 2005 CRF250X

    by fire221 » Fri May 08, 2009 7:08 pm

The idle is unpredictable and erratic. I had the problem before ALL of the modifications were done and the problem still exists. I have installed a Twin Air filter with Amsoil filter oil, adjusted the fuel screw out to 2.5 turns and fresh fuel. What else could it be?

Pilot jet partially clogged, or air leak on the intake.

No obstructions, all clamps tight. Still there.

Replace the pilot with a new 42.

Pull the fuel screw and verify that the spring, washer and o-ring are still intact and in that order. Stock fuel screws are brass and are good. The R & D and CRF'sONLY screws are the best.

All items were replaced when I did ALL of the modifications. A new 42 was installed, the CRF only fuel screw was installed with new spring/washer/o-ring installed in correct order.

A "wandering idle" is indicative of a partially clogged pilot circuit or an air leak.

If you've doubled checked everything then it should be good to go.

Did you ever remove the slide from the carb? Or spray a bunch of carb cleaner through the venturi? The seal on the moving plate of the slide may be bad.
