    JD Jetting kits

    by FFDuke » Sun Mar 29, 2009 8:09 pm

    I have a 2007 CRF450R.

I live in the Pacific Northwest at an altitude of around 2000 ft.

The bike has a removed backfire screen

Two Brothers carbon fiber exhaust/SS Header.

The bike runs great. No bog, no hesitation. Very slight if any "popping" on decel.

My question is, would the JD jet kit add any noticeable performance to my bike? I know that the multi-tapered needles are said to add performance, I just wanted to know if it was noticeable/worth purchasing.

I have installed a JD jet kit on a 1999 YZ400f (my brothers) and felt noticeable improvements. However, his bike was running like dog crap before.

    Thanks

I used the DynoJet/K&N kit on my X. It did make a difference, but only in smoothness. Not so much power. The cool thing about a jet kit, is that it comes with a variety of main jets, so you save alot of time not going back to the parts store buying one size bigger. I imagine the JD kit is the same.

I have found the JD jetting kits to be vastly superior to the Dynojet or FMF jetting kits.

That being said, the difference with the R's will be noticable. Not quite as much as with the X's, but still a nice improvement with the R's.

if you have no hesitation, bog or any other issues related to the carb, why mess with it?

I assume you have an extended fuel screw. If not, buy one. sounds like you need to adjust it slightly. Also check all the joints in the exhaust system for leaks. Could be causing some popping on decel. All the bikes down here, we went up to a 45 pilot to eliminate that.

    JJ, we meet again!

That was my question, is it worth the performance gains-if there is any. I do not have an extended fuel pilot screw, but I am ordering one today.
