    Mustang,
Just finished the mods to my 450X. $4.50 170 main jet, Applied Breather Removel Kit $19 (could have made it for $3 plus the breather), White Bros Smog Removel Kit (could have made for $5), Removed the pipe insert (flows free know).
    1000'
    170 main jet
    1 1/8 fuel scew
Top of air box cut out only
    stock filter
    pipe insert removed
    White Bros block off kit
    Appiled breather removel kit
    4th position on needle
    no pink wire yet

Bike fired right up and idled perfect. Let it warm up turned the chock off and went burning down the street. Could have done it a little cheaper without the removel kits, but it was not that expensive.

Question:Obviously the bike woke up when I gave it some gas and air, but I dont know if it is still lean or if it needs more air. Should I just get the JD jet kit and Twin Air and be done with it, or should I leave well enough alone?

    Jetting data base for crf's

    Model: CRF450X
    Altitude: 0-3000 ft ASL
Pilot jet size: 42 (Stock 45)
Main jet size: 165 (Stock 142)
Leak jet size: 65 (Stock 70)
    Needle used: JD Red
Clip location: 5th from top (The kit Recommended 4th)
Airbox mods: Top open, rubber piece removed under seat, (not cut anywhere = Stays cleaner, longer)
Air Filter changes: Twin Air Filter element

Other related changes: Removed backfire screen.
DR D Header and Pipe. SRC Fuel Screw 1-1/2 Turns out from seated. Boysen Quickshot. Accel Pump Timing set to .120 (Stock .100)

I had a terrible bog and off idle hesitation problem before the above work. It almost caused me to drop the front end into a washout the first time I rode it. A change had to be made for safety and performance.
Currently: Bike revs extremely quick. Zero bog/hesitation. You can blip the throttle as fast as you like and it responds immediately. Low to mid range power is awsome. This bike ran like a POS in stock form. This bike may not get enough credit if you just check it out from the showroom floor. Until you experience a properly tuned bike, with minimal mods you can't appreciate it. I know the quickshot, exhaust, an air filter and jets aren't cheap, but the results are unbelievable.

    Hope this helps..

    Ride hard,
    Stay Safe,

    Regards
    Ruberban

    My jetting for 2004 CRF250X

    155 main
    42 pilot
    2.5 turns air screw
    Stock needle in 4th position
Snorkel removed, box cut per Honda spec
    Baffel removed

Runs very well at sea level to 1,500'

I tried stock mains (130) to 140, 145, 150, and finally settled on the 155. it runs a little rich with this set up, but I can solve that be getting a CRF450X needle and putting it back in position #3. would be all I need to do to fine tune things.
