    Cold Natured CRF450X

This is the second time I have gone riding on a somewhat cold morning (for FL about 45 deg) and the bike just doesnt want to run the choke gets it started and i can keep it running but anytime I let off the throttle as if I am going to stop it cuts off and is very hard to start back up. Later in the day it started running OK again. i have the JD jetting kit, opened airbox and it has been a good running bike. I usually go two weeks without riding it but start it up on the off week so I am assuming its not stale gas in the carb. Any ideas?

Open up the fuel screw 1/8th to 1/4 of a turn.

Thanks I will have to try that. This morning it wasnt as cold, so I choked it and once I got it running I just started riding it instead of any kind of warm up. It bogs for about 3 miles or so. Once its fully warm, it idles and runs fine.

You need to do some carb work for sure.

I would start with going 1 up on the pilot. Make starting a lot easier on the bike and help the low end response.

THe X models are worst than the R models for jetting since they have the emmissions junk on the bike and they jet them lean for the EPA.

From there adjust the fuel screw - not easy on the X model with the starter in the way.
