Help me with 250x jetting please!

2005 crf250x, pink wire cut, airbox open, backfire screen gone, pro circuit T-4 pipe, moose racing stage 1 jetting, needle@ 5th groove, fuel screw @ 2.25 turns, pilot, and 134 main jet. 4000 ft elevation. The bike run really great except if I hit the throttle fast from low rpm's it pauses then goes like heck. If I roll the throttle slower, no pause and great torque to redline. I still have the stock leak jet. Is it my problem????? If it is, what size should I try? Or this something else? Thanks for any info.

What pilot?

I think you need a bigger main jet. Try a 158 and back your fuel screw in a turn.
You may want to try the A/P mod too, search for "Redbeard" or "AP Mod".

I'm sorry, I should have included that the Moose jetting stage 1 kit jets numbers don't match the stock jet numbers. The bike currently has the largest main jet from the kit (CJ134) and the pilot is DPJM048 and the Moose needle. Before I made the jet changes and the mod changes I had a 48 pilot and a 135 main with the clip on the 4th groove. Most my riding is ar 4000 ft.

I haven't herd much about the moose kit, the greatest success I am familure with is JD red, 4th position 155ish and a 42 Pilot. This set up works great for me from 4k to 10k. I think you could use a similar set up with the R needle from the CCC mods.

What is the smallest jet from the moose kit? With the JD kit at that altitude the smallest jet from the kit is recommended, and if that is a 48 pilot it is way too big.

The smallest main jet is a CJ118. I first tried the CJ128 main but bike ran very poorly at higher rpms. Worked my way up to the CJ134 for the best performance except when you crack the throttle. The bike really runs strong with the moose jets and needle. Could the leak need changed or somthing with the accelerator pump? Kinda wish I's bought the JD kit instead!

Most get good results without messing with the leak jet.

The AP mod would be worth looking into as well.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to try it and will let you know the outcome. Have a enduro next Sunday and hope to have it cleared up!

Worst day of riding is better than anyday at work!

Kinda wish I's bought the JD kit instead!

Everyone who has it loves it,and they sure don't have any bogging .
Moose has no R&D department and dyno with exhaust gas temp and content analysis, I don't kno wwhere these flakes like Moose and Dynojet get their "jetting" specs, it's pretty shameless if you ask me.

You bet.
The bike currently has the largest main jet from the kit (CJ134) and the pilot is DPJM048

That isn't close to what you'd run with a JD kit.
The kit is really a handful of main jets for most any eventuality, a pilot that seems to work great for about everyone, and two needles. You wind up using only the red one, but the needle is the center piece of any JD set-up, that's what makes the set-up work so well and that's where all the R&D money is spent, JD really has that down.
Changing the leak jet when installing a JD set-up in a 250X has not shown to be required at all. With what you've done to your bike, for instance that pipe and the other mods you've done... it should run very, very strongly top to bottom with no bog at all. Doug

Thanks for your input. Your opinions mean alot. I think I'll eat the 56 bucks I paid for the moose kit and just get the JD kit and fix the problem. Thanks alot for everyones' opinions and help!
