    aftermarket exhaust jetting

    by hondafan » Sun May 25, 2008 6:24 pm

hey guys i know you get this alot, but what do you generally have to do with your carb after installing an aftermarket exhaust (to gain the best performance)?

i want to do it all myself this time and want to get it right with a little help from some more experienced riders/ mechanics.

i have the 08 crf450 with stock jetting.

    any help would be appreciated.

I have the 08 450R I put a full FMF megabomb and 4.1 system on it. I purchased the FMF jet kit and started with their recommdations and have since played around with the main jets. I ended up running a 170 main with their neddle on the 5th clicp. I still need to go down on the pilot as the stock one is way to rich. I can turn my fuel screw completely in and it doesn't even phase the engine. Still sits and purrs. Alot will depend on your alt and temps you ride at. I'm at sea level and 50 to 100 degrees. I know another guy with same bike and exhaust and never changed a thing jetting wise and it runs just fine. It's one of thos trial and error type ordeals. I'm am currently awaiting my pilot jets to show up.
