deacceleration popping

Hi, my crf has been sitting for about 6 months with no fuel in the carb or tank. I added 2 teeth to the rear sprocket and took it out this weekend. I had a LOT of popping going on everytime the bike deaccelerated. What is that all about, never happened before. Is it because the bike sat? Would the gearing do this? Should I adjust the fuel screw out a half or quarter turn? Thanks for the help, Nancy

Try the fuel screw to see if that makes a difference. If not, the pilot jet may be partially plugged.
The gearing would have no effect.

Sometimes all you need is a new head pipe seal. Cold air entering will cause popping.
