JD High alt. and race fuel.

    by khabibulin » Wed Mar 05, 2008 7:32 pm

Hey guys my jd kit comes tomorrow and I cant wait. Well Im gonna be running 110 leaded. And I was wondering should I go with JD instructions or will it have to be played around with. And if so what will have to be changed? Emailed James but never heared back so I just decided to ask here. Thanks

whats your elevation? if your not running a high compression piston and running race fuel your wasting your money the motor was designed to burn at a certain rate you dont gain any performce with 110 it just burns slower to prevent detonation so actually you would lose performance sense the fuel takes to long to ignite on your stock setup

Don't bother with the explanation. We've all tried to teach him. He doesn't want to learn. Somebody on TT told him that 110 is the best and he won't listen to the facts.

on the race fuel they are correct. unless it is oxygenated race fuel just having a higher octane won't increase performance. now if you have a high compression piston than higher octane will help prevent early detonation which is essential for not imploding your motor. if it's a stock motor premium pump gas works just fine.

    Agreed.

Since the 110 he is using is for a new bike, stock engine, just go with what the chart included with the JD kit tells you to do.

The oxygenated race fuels require jetting that is richer than normal due to the oxygen content in the fuel itself.

The reason I use it is because it costs me 3.00. I ran it in my 450 and liked it. I may switch between the 2 to see if i notice a diffrence. You guys seemed hooked on the premium. So i will try it.

i may use it for $3/gal! normally race fuel is 2+ times more expensive than pump gas. if you can get it at the same price as pump gas then i would likely use it in my R. my X i would always set it up for pump gas as it's easier to get.

What is the price of gas down there?! Up here, premium is $3.89 a gallon. (p.s. thats 92 octane).

Then that's correct. Sea level would call for a 190 main jet.
