    another jetting question

    by hookupman » Fri Feb 29, 2008 7:51 pm

I just got the JD jetting kit and when I get to the part about the carb, the directions do not say anything about lifting the subframe to the upright position. When people do this do they lift the subframe or just wiggle the carb like the JD directions say?

    Thanks.

well I think can just rock the carb to get the needle replaced.

Replacing the jets seem to be problematic with the carb on the bike. The JD directions do not say anything about removing the carb but the pics they show of the jet location has the carb out of the bike.

I guess the jets are accessible when carb is on the bike. Any tricks for this?

And these honda needle tools...i hope I can pick one up tomorrow otherwise the Sunday ride may no go as planned.

well I ended up lifting the subframe and pulling the shock to get more room. still kept the carb connected to all the cables and stuff just disconnected it from the front and rear housing.

That seemed to work well and only took 20 minutes to lift the subframe.

so how much rotation do you get? It seems that I could only get about 12 - 14 degrees. Is that about the max?
