This is probably a really stupid question. Maybe it's been asked before, but here is goes...
I am pretty new to the ins and outs of dirt bikes, and since I am young, I am not the most mechanically inclined person in the world. I became the proud owner of a 2007 CRF250R this summer and my riding ability has come a long way from when I rode my brother's KX65 earlier this year. I recently purchased a JD Jetting Kit from CRF's Only and had a question about installing the needle.
When installing the needle (I am installing the red one for warm weather riding since the bike will not be ridden this winter - wrestling season), the stock needle was in place in the slide. I used an extended ratchet wrench to extract the entire slide/needle unit from the stop of the carb. Being an idiot, I failed to pay attention to how the stock needle was positioned in the slide and took it apart before taking note of how I would need to put it back together again and now I am stuck.
The stock needle looks different than the JD needle. The JD needle simply has the seven clip positions while the NBKT needle has a top (sits inside of the slide), and a subsequent long shaft which leads to five clip positions. From what I can tell, the slide is composde of two gold parts: a hexagonal top part with a threaded end (screws into the top of the carb.), and a smaller "end" with a spring and circular base (is inserted into the bottom of the top/previously described part). See link below for a similar picture.

How does the JD needle sit in the slide?
Do I just put the needle into the hole at the top of the carb. and put spring/hex thing above it?
Sorry for all ove my terminology inaccuracies adn for any parts of this post that are hard to understand. thanks for any and all help!
