    CRF230F Dialed in Jetting

    by jtcohenour » Wed Sep 19, 2007 1:05 pm

I have been racking my brain trying to get my jetting dialed in correctly. The bike pops on decel still. My set-up is as follows:

    132 Main
    48 Pilot
    Needle in Middle Clip Position
    Dr. D Aftermarked Exhaust
    Uni Filter
    Fuel Screw 2 turns out

Yup and try opening the fuel screw up 1/8 of a turn at a time.

I sprayed some wd40 around the airbox and didn't notice any increases in rpm. How do I check the exhaust for leaks?

As for the fuel screw I am hesitant to open it more than two turns as I hear it can fall out?

Look for signs of exhaust gases escaping. Mix some dish soap and water and put around seal with a small paintbrush, start bike and look for bubbles.

The Fuel screw will tolerate 2 1/2 turns without issue.

There appears to be a leak at the header connection to the head. Do you know the torque setting for the nuts that hold the exhaust to the head? I do not want to overtighten.

My book is in the garage but I bet it’s around 15flb.
Did you replace the gasket when you put your new pipe on? It is a collapsible brass or copper ring.
It is not uncommon to retighten them after the first few rides.

Yes I did replace the gasket when I installed the new pipe. It was a brass ring. I have only ridden the bike maybe 6 times since isntalling the pipe. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overtightening. 15lbs you say?
