    rejetting for altitude

by Bob Prince » Sat Aug 11, 2007 3:53 pm

I am the proud new owner of a 2006 crf 450x. The bike is all stock now. I am going up to Mammoth to ride for a few days and am looking for info on rejetting my carb. I will be between 5,000 and 10,000 ft and around 50 to 90 degrees. Can someone help me with jet changes and needle settings. The stock jets are in there now they are 142 and 45

    thanks

The no-brainer way is the JD kit. It has special needles for altitude. It contains everything you will need, including instructions for altering your airbox to get more air in. Alter the exhaust by either removing 2 rings from your baffle or removing it all together. There is a jetting sticky in the 450X forum at the top. Look that over to see what others are running at your altitude.

The alternative if you want to save a little money and go through your dealer to get jets is:

    NCVS Needle 3rd Clip (P/N 16233-men-671)
    170 Main
    42 Pilot

2 turns out on the fuel screw

    Remove Exhaust Baffle

    Modify Airbox http://crfsonly.com/howto/450x/airbox/c ... airbox.php

You can PM Skoot22 or Bocephus450X to get harassed, uh, sorry, to get support for the NCVS setup. :)
