    CRF450X 06

I'm brand new here, as with my ride...so bare w/me. :D My buddy and myself are the proud owners of a pair of 06 450x...

I have read many posts...but we need more help.

We're goin' to remove the baffle, nothing else...for a more throatie growl than stock. Our question. I realize we will need to re-jet. Lets first tell you where & how we ride. We live in Charlotte, nc elevation is approx 1000ft...we plan on riding to 3000ft in the mountains later. so 800-3000 is probably the range we will be riding in. We're by no means 'moto' guys..but we have been on a few tracks and enjoy trail-riding also. We have been riding most of our 45 years.(less 10 years) This bike is awesome the way it sits..just needs a hair more of instant throttle and some sound. We would greatly apprciate the pt#'s for our application and reccomended settings. AND, what brand and location to purchase. Did see a link on here...But don't know if that applies to our application. The baffle will more than likely be re-installed if we're asked while riding. No problem there. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. P.s. Glad i found this site...wealth of knowledge here. :D Sincerely, JR

    Badlord,

Get a JD jet kit for your bike, they are carried on this site. Do what the kit says and it will be like you just got a totally different bike, one with much more power and better throttle response. Have fun.

    Welcome to the site Baddlord!!

The JD kit is a foolproof way to go. Easy and complete.

There are alternatives that can be just as effective with less cash outlay. Do a search on NCVS under Skoot22 or bocephus450x.

The JD kit is bike specific.

The instructions will tell you exactly which jets, which needle setting, and fuel screw setting to use based on several factors including elevation, temperature and modifications done to the bike.

    It doesn't get any easier.

I believe it includes two needles, 4 main jets, and two o-rings to modify the Accelerator Pump.

Just do what AS suggests, we've been through this oh, a couple thousand times ! :D
Everything you need is in the kit for whatever elevation, and if you ever have a problem you e-mail James directly and he'll respond quickly with your answer.
Also don't blow off the airbox mod included in the JD kit, you'll regret it if you do. The directions in the kit tell you how to do it, and no you'll never drown the bike by doing so.
You may want to consider the Crfsonly fuel screw, it makes minor adjustments sometimes needed a whole lot easier to do. Just make sure the spring, washer and o-ring on the stock fuel screw get installed on the new one.

I recommend At least a 165 main maybe a 170 depending on how much you airbox is opened up.Honda 16233-men-671 NCVS needle 3rd pos. and 42 pilot jet, fuel screw 2 turns out. should cost about $30.This is an awesome setup. Or you can buy the JD jet kit.

Remove the metal screen on the air filter.

Dont forget to run the full quart in the tranny. Either the honda red bottle or maxima MTL.

Im always around for any questions. Mostly in the 450X forum or you can just pm me.
