    Optimum Exhaust Gas Temperature

Does anyone know what the optimal Exhaust Gas Temperature is for an '02 (EGT sensor is 6" from center of cyl)?

How about getting the bike warmed up and then adjust the fuel screw to rich of peak EGT.

Where did you get the EGT gauge?

EGT is mychron (AIM). the engine is in a superkart and there is not a screw since it is jetted. On 2-cycle, you develop the peak EGT under a load at the end of a straight and cannot develop the same EGT without a load....is this different for 4-stroke?

My experience with an EGT gauge is from flying small airplanes.

If you have a carburetor you should have either a fuel screw or an air screw. Otherwise you could not make small adjustments to account for temperature, elevation and humidity.

yeah, there are adjustment screws for idle stop and idle mixture, but the mains are fixed jets on my engine. On my 250 and my 125, I have adjustments (on the 125, it comes from IAME with a hand adjustable needle, and on my 250, I have a dail that I can turn while I am racing.
