O-Ring around Screw and linkage question

2004 CRF250R

Just completed installing my JD Kit...current conditions here in St. Louis are 25F....went with blue needle in fifth position and 175 main jet. I have the fuel screw at 1.5 turns out. Went to install the o-ring on the accelerator pump and lost it in the process. Not an easy process of putting that on with the carb still on the bike.

Question is...does the setup really need the o-ring for this to work properly? If so, what is size of the little one so I go get another at the shop?

Thanks a ton for the assistance!!

You might not need it if you don't have a throttle-snap bog. Look at this thread for more info:

You might try opening your fuel screw 1/4 turn at a time and see if the issue goes away or gets better. The o-ring should take care of it though..

What did you change your pilot to?
I went with a 45 after my mods... it took away that little bit of throttle stutter.

weather on the R or the X, in that cold temperatures the pilot might need some attention. I dont know whats in there right now but it's not to difficult to change. If it's the stock pilot (whatever that is) I would think you would be lean in those 25 degrees temps.

Worse than before

ok..so went riding yesterday and it was worse than ever. I did notice an improvement in the idle bog but otherwise it was horrible.

When i first got to the riding area I had to kick it for almost an hour to get it to start. Seemed to run OK but had numerous starting issues even once it warmed up. It acted lean but everything I have done is to richen it up from stock. Now I know why 2 strokes are so popular..haha.

Guess I will go back to stock and start over...

You might want to try turn the fuel screw out to 1.75 or 2 turns out. I have the same set up on my 05R except for the red needle and have only had to turn the fuel screw for temp changes.

you can use safety wire also and wire the linkage. But that is only 1 step in what is required.

next you will have to time the AP squirt to JUST miss the slide. after that you need to check the duration and adjust the leak jet accordingly. You can also mess with the diagphram, but probably will not need to.

after that, then you need to dial in the pilot, main and needle.
