    I need feed back

    by RidgelineX » Sat Jan 06, 2007 7:36 pm

I just complete the following mods on my 06 450X
Open air box (top, and both sides)
Installed Twin Air with no back fire screen
Replaced exhaust with E2 White Brother one
Installed a boyesen quick shot ap cover
    From JD Kit I
    Installed 162 main
Red needle clip on 4th position
    Installed 48 slow jet
    Installed CRF's only air/fuel needle
    Pink wire mod
    JB Weld smog pump

I know that the best way to test the bike and find out if everything that got change actually will be right is taking it out and ride it...

I've only had the chance to ride on the street infront of my house and I could feel the power right away.. :D

I normally ride in places like Gorman, Rowher Flats, Ocotillo Wells and other places I will be going to; like Death Valley, Encenada, San Felipe.

Do you think the mods I've done in my bike are going to be ok riding on all these different altitudes??
Or is it going to be too rich??
    Or too lean??

I need your feed back/ Opinions

    Thanks, :)

I believe that most of the 450's are running a 165 or 170 main.

Where do you have your fuel screw at?

Gil is correct, the 162 may be a bit small for winter. You can probably get away with a 165 or 170.

The low areas, San Felipe, Ocotillo, Death Valley will be fine. As the temps rise and your altitude rises the 48 may be too big.

When summer comes I may put my 45 back in. But right now with the cold temps the 48 is at 1 3/8 turns and my bike rips!!

The air/fuel is at about 2 turns out...

So, the 162 main and 48 slow may not be the best convination for different altitudes??

I run a 165/45 combo. 1 1/8-1 3/8 out on the fuel screw to eliminate decel pop.
I have ridden at sea level to 8000' Kennedy Meadows with no problems.
I do have a 170/48 that I will try out. A lot of the riders here like that combination.

I have used the 170/48 combo in a lot of places without any issue. Kennedy Meadows, Gorman, Rowher, The desert around Randsburg, and at 600 ft in Bakersfield.

As mentioned, there are some riders that have success with that combo and some that don't like it at all. Seems to vary from machine to machine.

I am glad to hear that there is a combo that will work from sea level to 8,000' That's pretty much the altitude range I will be riding too..

How's the power with the combo you are runing? And do you feel any difference from summer to winter time??

    Thanks for the info,

    FS.

First I thought the 170/48 combo maybe a little on the rich side?? But seems like a lot of people here is what they are runing with out a problem..

On my two stroke bike I am runing too rich, the power is great but don't like fouling plugs often.. :(

    Thanks,

    FS.
