    2006 CRF 450R
    JD jetting kit.
    Red needle, 6th position
    180 main
    Fuel screw 1 3/4 out.
    JUST AS DIRECTED

It took me about 1.5 hours to do breathing slowly and deeply, taking my time to make sure I was doing what I was supposed to.
Manual and JD instructions in hand.

Buttoned it all up and ......... first kick ba ba ba ba ba ba! 8-)

Cold this bike has always taken 3-4 kicks.

It seemed to idle nicely. I can't wait to see how things go when I go out to ride!

I will do the O ring install a bit later. The first portion of this went so well I thought I would quit while I was ahead and revisit the rest later.

    Model: 2006 250X

Settings for what altitude: 800 – 1,200 ft
    Ambient temperature: 85F – 96F (low humidity)
    Main jet size: 155
Needle used: NCYQ (Honda part 16202-MEN-671)
    Clip location: 4th (middle).
Airbox mods: 3” square; cut open between three vertical ribs with rubber cover removed
    Air Filter changes: Moose

    Any other related changes:
Leak jet: 55 (Honda part 99108-MEB-0550)
    Pilot jet: 45
Fuel screw: 1/2 out (see note below)
    Exhaust: stock with baffle removed
Accel. pump cover changed to Factory R&D
(which included a easy-adjust fuel screw)
    No accel. pump linkage modifications
Air pump and emission controls are stock (not blocked)
    Pink wire stock
    Gearing is stock
    Pump gas: Premium

I tried a 42 pilot but had to open the fuel screw 3-1/4
turns. With a 45 pilot, there is no bog and I can richen
the mixture as weather gets colder.

A 158 main jet worked, but the 155 seemed a bit better
    under the current weather conditions.
I tried a 162, but it didn't feel as snappy as with the smaller mains.

The engine now lugs very low and has good acceleration
without bogging. There is an occasional backfire on downhill sections.

I replaced the Phillips head screws on the float bowl with Allen head screws. This enables me to remove the bowl to access pilot jet, but it's still an hour-long job.

Another observation: Jetting seemed to make a more noticeable improvement than upgrading the accel. pump cover.

You can get to the pilot and main jet by removing the float bowl drain bolt, i believe it's a 17mm. Loosen the 2 hose clamps on each side of the carb and rotate the bottom toward you. You can get i believe the 6mm nut driver in there to get the main out and the pilot is right next to it. Should be like a 10-15 min job tops.
