by el baja » Mon Jan 28, 2008 4:59 pm

Well no funds for a new grip seat cover, so why not just make it your self El Chepo style.....for pennies...well more like $16.85 with tax..
    supply...from JOANNES.

Make a pattern for the sides...

Using a sewing machine sew all peaces together sides and top reverse side out then flip and fit over seat. staple front back and sides just a couple see how it fits..

Now if it's good finish off stapling all around seat trim off any access material and your done....

finish product...just need to screen print HONDA LOGO..all post a pic when i do it....

someone(smith) should start a do it yourself tab on the mainpage. DIY is awesome and always good stuff, im sure there are all sorts of little projects people have done to their bike without actually bying the stuff.

    El baja -
What kind of staples/staple gun did you use to attach the new cover? Also...is that Black/Grey colors? I'm going with new plastics this year (black/white/gray color scheme.) I'm also going to modify the original seat to a step seat. Could you make a cover for it in Black/Gray? The seat is off an '06 450R. Let me know what might be involved. Thanks.

    nedirtbikr,

i'm doing the same now changed my crf230 red for white plastic. had my rims powder coated a while back to black. and i'm doing a little more, but's top secret still should be done soon, still waiting on some part to come in then i can put it together and post some pic's i'm calling it crf230X project so keep and eye out for the post. well back to your question i used and ARROW STAPLER from home depot. i don't do lot of riding in water mostly desert so not worried about the staples rusting.have you tryed e-bay.if not then maybe i can't make you one same as mine 30 bucks.i don't know if i could make it for a step seat or maybe it will just streach around the step into shape...let me know ok. thanks..
